Jerkbaits aka ripbaits are usually longer and more slender then a crankbait. The lip is also usually at more of an angle then you're average crank. Most of them commonly used for bass and pike fishing in the cooler months are suspending.
The way you fish them also varies. For a crankbait, usally a cast and retrieve method is used. For a Ripbait, you used more of a jerk-pause (2 - 60 seconds, depending on water temp, colder the water, longer the pause) retrieve.
